September 19, 2024 with Special Guest, Donna Martin
Donna Martin, M.A., international Hakomi trainer, creator of Psoma (TM)  and Psoma Yoga Therapy, author of Psoma Yoga TherapyEmbodied Mindfulness: the Hakomi Way, the Practice of Loving PresenceDelightenment, and Psoma - Healing as Remembering Wholeness.

I've been inspired by Mary Oliver's Instructions for living a life:

          Pay attention.
          Be astonished.
          Tell about it.

In this experiential Tribe of the Heart session, we’ll explore in embodied mindfulness how Mary Oliver's three instructions could be practiced in simple and relevant ways.
For example, to be astonished, how might we access a state of “Awe” (as described in a recent book by Dacher Keltner) to shift personal and relational energy?

When I think about what my own guiding principles are, I come up with:

          Curiosity

          Gratitude

          Generosity

I’d love to invite you to explore each of these in a simple relational mindfulness practice to discover how they might relate to your life and then to reflect, recognize and share one or more of your own instructions for life. There’ll be time in this session for deep reflection, embodied Presence, and mindful sharing.

December 19, 2024 with Special Guest, Felicia Dong
After earning my MBA in 2001, I initially believed I would spend my entire career in the business world in China. However, things began to change. In 2012, I obtained my license as a psychotherapist while working in corporate culture and strategy. I then completed level 1 training in Hakomi in Shanghai in 2016, just before moving to California. Since last year, I have been in training to become a Hakomi teacher in China, while also seeing clients using Hakomi techniques.

Looking back, I realize that my corporate experience and metropolitan lifestyle have provided me with insights into the struggles individuals face in their relationships, both at work and at home, as well as the mental and physical health challenges that arise from stress. I have been searching for a solution that can awaken both myself and those around me from a trance-like state, guiding us towards a more compassionate and liberating way of living. I believe that’s why I am here.

In Hakomi, we support clients’ transformation in several ways, from being a loving presence to creating new experiences to help develop new attitudes or possibilities.  I find it fascinating that sometimes storytelling does this kind of magic work, big and small.  There is a famous love story in China, that happened around Year 397 in Eastern Jin Dynasty.  The original story was a tragedy that resulted from constraints of arranged marriage back then.  It was later developed into a legend which transformed their love into eternity and has been spread for nearly 1,700 years.  China broke up the arranged marriage system in mid of last century, however, it still stirs ripples in people’s hearts who are longing for freedom from worldly concepts.  In 1959, two students at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music composed a Violin Concerto based on this story, which has become very popular in China ever since then.  I’m going to tell the story and share a short audio version of this concerto.  And then we can go to groups where participants can make up their own stories of transformation for work, life or imaginary world.  I hope we will have a good story evening, build connection and inspire action.

Tribe of the Heart is An Idea for a Difficult Time
This event is designed to create a place for us to inspire each other towards greater lovingness, kindness and compassion. We live in a difficult time. People and the planet are suffering in myriad ways, and I would like for us to co-create an oasis, a community of the heart. You know the magical feeling of being in a Hakomi training where you experience that there’s finally room for you to be more of who you really are, to blossom a little bit, and to extend your generosity to others?

Let’s cultivate that and bring it to a larger community. Let’s do it together! Let’s see if it catches fire!

          Structure
We will do some internal and relational processes that will help nourish and explore our hearts.

We can include times to share what inspires us to live more deeply from our organic selves: poetry, music, art, dance, stories of connecting with a clerk in Whole Foods, successes in repairing a rupture with your partner or the heartbreak of failing to do so, a poem that you read or wrote that touched something deep inside.

We can inspire each other.  Maybe you can lead a movement piece or share a quote.

Let’s create a place where we can support each other in gentle ways that inspire the best in each other.

We can have times to sit in sacred silence together, to use mindfulness to explore the barriers to our own heartfulness, times for ritual, times to have our pain held by a tribe of the heart.

Together, we have a tremendous amount of talent, leadership and heart, that I believe we can use to create something wonderful for ourselves and others.

          What You Will Learn

          • Explore what stops you from being more loving
          • Feel less alone
          • Bring more kindness to the world
          • Access your heart more deeply

          Who Is This For
