Description

Our HPAP training program is where the two worlds of psychedelics and psychotherapy converge.

Designed for licensed clinicians, our program offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends the wisdom of the Hakomi method with the life-changing potential of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. We provide the knowledge and skills needed to guide clients through their inner journeys, fostering profound healing, growth, and self-discovery.

This unique training program combines our experienced faculty, skills-based somatic curriculum, expert guest lecturers, and transformational experiential learning to support participants to become a part of this exciting journey at the forefront of contemporary psychotherapy.

Learn the power of Hakomi's relational philosophy to create profound safety for exploring expanded states of consciousness based on ethics, legal frameworks, and therapist self-awareness. These skills are applicable to all aspects of psychedelic psychotherapy, including preparation and integration of psychedelic experiences, as well as deep-dive psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy sessions.

Join us as we embark on a path of healing and transformation. Embrace the new possibilities at the nexus of Hakomi and psychedelic therapy.

Learning Objectives
Core competencies

  • Diagnostics and Assessment - Why work with expanded states and what outcomes are hoped for, are foundational questions to ask.  Understanding indications and contraindications is paramount to providing safe and ethical care.

  • Pharmacology of psychedelic medicines available for use. - Biology, applications, duration, dosage, side effects, and aftereffects.

  • Ethics of working with expanded states.  Ethics and awareness of the impact of expanded state work is paramount in creating true safety for clients in the care of psychedelic therapists. We will focus on developing ethics through the lens of therapist self-reflection and awareness as well as industry practices and standards.

  • Therapeutic preparation for deep dive sessions. - How to use the psychotherapy sessions prior to the deep dive session to define goals and intentions, prepare the psyche for psychedelic work, and teach resourcing to clients. Therapeutic agreements and support for expanded state work.

  • Somatic techniques for recognizing and working with trauma before, during, and after deep dive sessions.

  • Elements of deep dive psychedelic sessions. From arrival to completion, we will explore techniques for “holding space” while clients are in expanded states, including use of ritual, altars, touch, sensory enhancements (such as scent) when appropriate, use of music and of silence, supportive touch when appropriate, use of movement, room setup, immediate aftercare including supplements and food.

  • Integration of deep dive sessions. Timeline of unfolding of psychological/spiritual/emotional material uncovered during the session and in the weeks to follow.  Use of notes from the session. Reviewing and stitching together intentions and big picture material gleaned from a deep dive session.
