Trauma, Somatic Wisdom and the Joy of Fluidity
(April 2023)

When we are in pain holding the suffering of others, we want to know that we are not alone in the healing process. In an increasingly challenging world of mental health anxiety, depression and trauma, the mental health professional needs time and intentional focus to create healing spaces that are inclusive, safe and compassionate. In this workshop we will use trauma-informed somatic techniques to work on our own trauma narratives and how we have embodied them, as well as how we are holding the trauma of others. We will apply intrinsic movement techniques, somatic body awareness practices and safe group practices to wake up the somatic wisdom in the body. This workshop is highly experiential and is designed for personal restorative practice and group experiences to reconnect with the internal fluidity that lies beneath the trauma memories. This workshop is an opportunity to experience the collective healing power, to release, restore and re-inspire your work as a helping professional. Manuela will combine floor work, somatic small group practices and live demonstrations to create a deep learning container for individual and collective trauma healing.

This workshop is suited for mental health professionals who want to have a safe place to work on the resiliency of their own nervous system health. Professionals in the healing arts, psychotherapy, medicine, or anyone treating trauma clients, this is a place for you to restore your own somatic health and well-being and learn how to engage the new challenges as a mental health provider in this time of uncertainty, overwhelm and vicarious trauma.
